2014 Summer Reading Carnival

Join us for the Summer Reading Carnival at the Main Library. The carnival will be held on July 26th from 11am to 2:00pm. All children ages 12 and under are welcome to attend. Participation in the Summer Reading program is not required. There will be: A presentation from Dr. John Becker about his stories and wildlife adventures in the rainforest. Pioneer Garden at Shawnee State Park Nature C...

The Portsmouth Public Library, Scioto Soil and Water Conservation District and the Ohio State Park Service have teamed up to bring an exciting project to Scioto County. We will be hosting a Pioneer Garden at the Shawnee State Forest Nature Center. We will be using this garden to teach about gardening, nature and traditional Appalachian life. The garden will be open each Friday at 1pm and activities will begin at 3pm. The bookmobile will be visiting and leading activities about topics including: a pioneer child’s life, traditional music, folk remedies, pioneer clothing and food making.
