Hurth Apartments building was originally the Hotel Hurth. It was built in 1923 by Adolph Hurth and was supposedly a fireproof hotel. In 1982, the building was converted into senior apartments.

The Esplanade, or Government Square, or Gallia Square, as it was called in the 1800's is located at the corner of Gallia and Chillicothe Streets. In 1959, during a special ceremony, the name was changed to the Roy Rogers Esplanade.

From 1918 to 1938, the building was Smoke House Billiards and Cigars. In 1939, it became the American Building and Loan Association. By 1994, its name had changed to the American Savings Bank, which it retains today.
